VOLUNTEERS are the people behind the success of Shih Tzus & Furbabies. Young, old, woman, man, family, single, these are the recipe ingredients that our organization depends upon for operation, and we NEED your HELP.
With approximately 150 pups at any time in foster care across the nation, we are always in need of additional foster parents, where the rescued pup will become a part of the family until it is ready to be placed into a "Forever Home." If you are interested in becoming a foster home, please fill out an application today.
Not unlike the underground railroad of days past, we have a great need for Transport Coordinators and Transporters. When word is received that a furbaby needs our help in reaching a foster or forever home, the transportation coordinator spins into motion a route map for transporters along the way to drive a short distance and hand off the rescues to the next awaiting transporter, until the pups reach their destination. If you enjoy being out and about, this is an area where you can excel.
Many of our furbabies are rescued from animal kill shelters. This creates a special need for volunteers who are capable of building a solid working relationship with their local shelters. STFBR needs people who will be called by the shelter prior to the "last day" in order that we may pull the animal to safety for placement into a foster home. We call these Intake Coordinators.
On every application to foster, transport, or adopt, references must be checked and there is the need for Reference Coordinators across the nation who will arrange reference checks and home visits in their geographical area. Not only is this a very important element of rescue, it is an opportunity to meet some extraordinary families.
Supplies; and there are many. Collars, leashes, crates, toys, flea prevention, heart worm prevention, beds, sweaters, grooming supplies, these are just a few of the items needed for each rescued furbaby. If you are unable to volunteer your home or time, any of these items would be greatly appreciated and used wisely.
Last but certainly not the least important, we desperately need donations and public interest in our endeavors. Are you the outgoing, adventurous person willing to coordinate fund raisers, participate in pet expos, and build corporate and individual sponsorships? Are you willing to ask for the $$$'s to support our activities? If you are such a person, we NEED you and your talents.
Please listen to your inner voice, roll up your sleeves and pick an area where you can volunteer a little of yourself and be rewarded with the knowledge that your efforts helped save the life of a precious furbaby.
